Coonrod comes to Ball State in the footsteps of his former tight end teammate, Tate Hoover, who arrived in Muncie last year from Hutchinson CC … regarded as a strong blocking tight end.

HUTCHINSON CC: Coonrod was an honorable mention all-conference pick for the Jayhawk Conference champion Blue Dragons in 2025 … he played in eight games for 11-1 Hutchinson whose only loss came against Iowa Western CC in the NJCAA national championship game ... spent three seasons at Hutchinson but did not play in 2023 (Fr.) or 2024 (R-Fr.).

HIGH SCHOOL: He graduated high school in 2023 after playing both football and basketball at Manhattan High School in Kansas.
