Nate Atkins is the Ball State safeties coach as of February 2023.
Previously for one season, Atkins took on the role of linebackers coach and special teams coordinator at Dayton.
His coaching journey began as a volunteer graduate student assistant at William & Mary in the winter of 2020.
Following this, he transitioned to Ball State, serving as a graduate assistant coach.
Atkins is a former linebacker at William & Mary. During his college playing career, Atkins secured 44 consecutive starts and over 300 tackles, earning two-time team captaincy, third-team all-league honors in 2017 and a semifinalist spot for the William V. Campbell Trophy. Atkins was also a member of the academic all-conference team all four years at William & Mary.
