The Cardinals had the most explosive offense in the MAC in 2019 as the team led the league in scoring (34.8 points per game) and total offense (463 yards per game) … Ball State's rushing average (219.4 yards per game) in 2019 was its second highest in the last 40 years … the Cards ranked No. 1 in the MAC in passing offense in 2018 (252.9 ypg) as well as No. 2 in third down conversions (42.6 percent) … helped quarterback Drew Plitt earn the team’s most improved player award in 2018 … forced to start four quarterbacks in 2017 due to injuries … Ball State’s offense was one of only three in the Mid-American Conference that averaged both 200 rushing and passing yards per game in 2016 … helped running back James Gilbert rush for 1,332 yards in 2016, fourth most in a single season by a Ball State player … directed the 2015 offense behind a true freshman quarterback in Riley Neal … molded an offense that allowed Jahwan Edwards to set the Ball State career rushing record in 2014 (4,558 yards) … on the Ball State coaching staff for the Beef 'O' Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl after the 2012 season and the GoDaddy Bowl after the 2013 campaign … tight ends coach from 2011-13 and served as recruiting coordinator from 2009-13 … promoted to offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in December of 2013 prior to Ball State's appearance in the GoDaddy Bowl … coached Zane Fakes to 2012 All-MAC first team honors as a tight end in 2012 and 2013 … also tutored Fakes to Capital One Academic All-America honors in 2013 … served as wide receivers coach from 2009-10 … coached Ball State's Briggs Orsbon, who led the Cardinals with 51 catches and 461 receiving yards in 2010 … coordinated an offense at Ashland University which averaged 324 yards passing, 146 yards rushing and 38.0 points per game in 2008 … tutored quarterback Billy Cundiff, who earned All-America first team honors, was named the conference player of the year and was a nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy … coached St. Joseph’s quarterback to all-conference honors, while leading an offense which averaged 109 yards rushing and 215 yards passing per game … helped Ashland to a 9-4 record in 2008.
