Jared Elliott currently serves as co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at Ball State. Elliott previously served as the passing game coordinator and tight ends coach in 2022.
His coaching journey saw a notable chapter at Western Illinois, where he spent six seasons, including four as head coach from 2018 to 2021. During his tenure, the program witnessed considerable success with 16 All-Missouri Valley Conference selections, 13 honorable mention choices and six All-Americans. Five of his players reached the professional ranks, including three who made it to the NFL; Lance Lenoir (Buffalo Bills), LaCale London (Chicago Bears), and Khalen Saunders (Kansas City Chiefs). Elliott also mentored two players who reached the CFL; Jaelon Acklin (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) and Sean McGuire (Winnipeg Blue Bombers).
In the 2021 season, Western Illinois’ offense consistently produced record-setting receivers and quarterbacks. His teams consistently displayed a dynamic offensive style, breaking program records for passing yards per game (301.0) and completions (315). Elliott's impact on quarterback development was evident through the achievements of players like Connor Sampson and Sean McGuire. McGuire secured top positions in career passing categories, finishing with 9,819 total passing yards, 223.2 yards per game, 771 completions and 72 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Sampson excelled in completion percentage, finishing his career at 63 percent.
Under Elliott's guidance, the Western Illinois passing offense consistently ranked among the best in the Football Championship Subdivision. Record-breaking performances by receivers, including Lenoir and Jaelon Acklin, underscored the team's offensive prowess. Lenoir set career records with 273 receptions, 3,792 receiving yards, and 28 touchdowns. Acklin contributed to the single-season records with 1,369 receiving yards and an average of 114.1 yards per game in 2017.
Before coaching at Western Illinois, Elliott contributed to coaching at Carthage College. He served as co-offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator for three seasons, aiding to the development of players at the Division III level. Additionally, his experience as a graduate assistant at Miami from 2010-2012, provided him with a foundation in the Mid-American Conference.
Elliott played quarterback and wide receiver at Miami from 2004-07, contributing to three MAC championships. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Miami in 2008.
Off the field, Elliott has a family with his wife, Jamie, and four children; Ava, Sadie, Clara, and Austin.
