2024 (So.): Made 11 appearances for the Cardinals, totaling five receptions for 50 yards … his 22-yard TD catch from Braedon Sloan versus Western Michigan (Oct. 5) marked the most recent non-quarterback TD pass as well as Abney’s first score of his career … Academic All-America nominee.
2023 (Fr.): Appeared in seven games with three starts as a true freshman ... he caught three passes for 16 yards, with a long reception of 10 yards at Bowling Green (Nov. 1) ... made his college debut at Western Michigan (Sept. 30) and, with added playing time after the loss of starter Brady Hunt, drew his first start two weeks later against Toledo (Oct. 14).
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-year varsity letterwinner at Zionsville High School … played for coach Scott Turnquist … helped guide the Eagles to a state runner-up finish and a 10-6 record his junior season … all-state and second team all-conference as a senior … Zionsville's Offensive MVP and team captain as a senior … finished his career with 2,520 passing yards and 26 passing touchdowns … also scored eight career rushing touchdowns … threw for 1,306 yards as a senior, 1,006 as a junior, and 208 in one game as a freshman … missed the first five weeks of the season his junior year due to a broken collar bone, only to come back and score 18 total touchdowns over the final 10 games, including 11 in the air and seven on the ground.
PERSONAL: Son of Tonya and Joel Abney … has four sisters … undecided on collegiate major.
