Cochran, who will have three years of eligibility, comes to BSU from after spending two seasons at Northern Illinois. He averaged 15.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game this past season (all team highs), which was abbreviated by injury and COVID-19 protocols. He was one of only four players in the MAC to average 15 ppg and 7 rpg. He played in 12 games in 2020-21 and scored in double figures 11 times, including a 26-point effort vs. Buffalo and a 20-point, 13-rebound effort vs. Akron. 
The 6-2, 220-lb. Cochran played 18 minutes per game as a true freshman in 2019-20, averaging 5.5 points and 4.2 rebounds and he was among the league leaders in offensive rebounding.
Prior to enrolling at NIU, Cochran played high school ball under coach Rob Brost at Bolingbrook High School outside of Chicago, a program with rich basketball tradition. He graduated from Bolingbrook as the winningest player in Bolingbrook High School history. He also played AAU for the Hoopers Basketball Club under Quintin Garrison.
