50 Years of Title IX Celebration
Ball State Athletics is set to commemorate its rich history of success and tradition in women’s athletics with its celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX in a year-long campaign.
Title IX, which was signed into federal law by President Richard Nixon on June 23, 1972, prohibits sex-based discrimination in any educational institution that receives federal funding and gave women many more opportunities to compete at the collegiate level.
Throughout the year, Ball State’s Title IX campaign will center around the three core pillars of recognition, education and engagement.
Ball State Athletics encourages fans, alumni, and community members to share memories, stories and experiences throughout the year on social media, as the department highlights pioneers, letterwinners, coaches and staff that were trailblazers and continue to empower women today and every day.
