Career: Cosby’s 43 career starts entering the 2021 season are the most of any active Ball State player … has started 31 consecutive games entering the season … his eight career interceptions entering the season are the most among active BSU players, while his 282 career tackles are the second-most of any active MAC player behind only teammate Jaylin Thomas (289).
2020 (Sr.): An All-MAC First Team selection … started all eight games at safety … tied for the team lead with two interceptions … picked off passes at Toledo and in the Arizona Bowl victory over No. 19 San Jose State … also had a team-high nine tackles in the bowl win on his way to Defensive Player of the Game honors and a spot on the AP All-Bowl Team … ranked third on the BSU team with 62 total tackles for the season, including a season-high 14 in the win over Northern Illinois … managed 11 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, in the MAC West championship-clinching victory over Western Michigan … made nine stops the next week in the MAC Championship Game victory over No. 23 Buffalo … finished the year with 4.5 tackles for loss … recorded his first career sack in the win at Central Michigan … member of the football program’s leadership council … No. 3 on the team’s annual “Tough Cardinals” list.
2019 (Jr.): Started all 12 games at safety … finished fourth on the squad with 78 tackles … ranked second on the team with five pass break-ups … registered interceptions in games at NC State on Sept. 21 and Eastern Michigan on Oct. 12 … his interception at EMU came in the endzone … finished with season highs in tackles (11) and tackles for loss (2.0) at Western Michigan on Nov. 6 … notched his 200th career stop at WMU … also had double-figure tackles against Florida Atlantic (10) on Sept. 14 and Kent State (11) on Nov. 23 … forced a fumble in the first quarter against FAU that led to a Ball State touchdown … tied for the team high with nine tackles in the season opener against Indiana.
2018 (So.): Played in all 12 games with 11 starts at safety … did not start the opener due to a preseason camp injury … tied for the team lead in tackles (83) and interceptions (2) … set a career-high versus Western Michigan with 17 tackles, eight more than his previous best and the most by a Cardinal since 2011 … he teamed up with linebacker Jimmy Daw for the game-winning tackle on WMU’s two-point attempt in the 42-41 win overtime win over the Broncos on Nov. 13 … notched his third career interception and first of the season at Toledo on Oct. 31 … recorded his 100th career tackle against EMU on Oct. 20 … tied for team-high honors with nine tackles at No. 8 Notre Dame on Sept. 8.
2017 (Fr.): Started all 12 games at safety as a true freshman … recovered a fumble which led to a Ball State field goal at Northern Illinois on Nov. 9 … equaled a season-high with eight tackles on Nov. 2 at Eastern Michigan … led the team with two interceptions … missed a third interception early in the game at Western Michigan on Sept. 30 … stopped a WKU scoring drive on Sept. 23 with an interception in the endzone … ranked second on the team with 59 tackles.
