Mark Augustyn enters his first season as the student assistant coach for the Ball State men's and women's swimming and diving programs.

A four-year letterwinner for the BSU men's squad from 2006-09, Augustyn was a 2008-09 Academic All-Mid-American Conference selection for the Cardinals.

2008-09 (Sr.): Earned his fourth letter at Ball State . . . Academic All-Mid-American Conference . . . placed 23rd in the 200 free at the Sun Belt/MAC Championships (2/18) with a time of 1:42.54 . . . his clocking of 1:42.07 in the prelims was a career-best and the fastest individual time on the squad . . . added a season-fast times of 4:45.85 in the 500 free and 17:06.72 in the 1650 free at the MAC meet . . . also turned in times for the 100 free (50.09), 1000 free (10:21.83), 100 fly (56.80) and 200 back (2:03.74) during the year.

2007-08 (Jr.): His 200 free clocking of 1:43.72 at the Sun Belt/Mid-American Conference Championships (2/28) was a season-best, as well as the team's top performance of the season . . . also swam for a career-fast time in the 500 free (4:45.54), while posting a season-best 1650 free (17:13.75) at the league championship meet . . . the times ranked him fifth and fourth, respectively on the team . . . posted season-best times of 59.24 (100 back) at the Doug Coers Invitational (11/16) and 2:02.56 (200 back) at the House of Champions meet (11/30).

2006-07 (So.): Recorded a personal best 24.04 in the 50 free in the Doug Coers Invitational (11/17) . . . ended the year with BSU's third-best individual time in the 200 free (1:46.54) at the MAC Championships (2/22) . . . ranked fourth on the team in the 500 free after clocking a 4:54.89 at the league meet . . . also finished sixth in the 200 back (2:05.52) and 10th in both 100 back (58.55) and 100 fly (57.27).

2005-06 (Fr.): Recorded third-highest individual mark on the team in the 200 free (1:45.87) at the MAC Championship (3/2) which resulted in a 13th place finish . . . swam a personal-best 50.24 in the 100 free in the tri-meet versus Illinois Chicago and Illinois State (1/13) . . . tallied a career-fast time of 10:27.59 in the 1000 free two weeks later versus Butler (1/28).

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four letters at Highland for Coach Ryan Herrington . . . state qualifier as a senior . . . earned academic all-conference, academic all-state and academic all-America honors as a senior . . . placed in the top 16 at state championships in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay as a junior . . . earned a sectional championship in the 200 free with a school and sectional record time of 1:45.17 . . . team captain as a junior and senior . . . logged a personal-fast time of 56.0 in the 100 back . . . named team's Most Improved Swimmer as a freshman.
