Men's Basketball Signs Incoming Freshman Forward Kai McGrew
April 30, 2026 | Men's Basketball
The Ball State men's basketball team and head coach Chris Capko have announced the addition of incoming freshman Kai McGrew to the program.
A 6-foot-8 forward out of Indianapolis, McGrew was named an Indiana All-Star after averaging 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as a senior at Fishers High School to lead the Tigers to a 24-1 record.
McGrew tallied 14.5 points and 8.2 rebounds a game as a junior at Fishers and was a team captain as both a junior and senior. He was a First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference performer and Team MVP for the Tigers as a senior.
Academically, McGrew plans to major in business or engineering at Ball State.
This is Ball State's second incoming freshman to sign with the team since Capko was hired in March, joining Kamden McGilveary from Fort Worth, Texas.
