Szymanski Earns Seventh Beam Win of Season at CMU

MOUNT PLEASANT, Michigan - - The Ball State gymnastics team closed the regular season with a 195.025 to 196.100 setback to Central Michigan Friday night at McGuirk Arena.

Despite the loss, the Cardinals (13-8; 4-2 MAC) took the top three spots on beam. Junior Ashley Szymanski led the way with a 9.850 for her seventh beam win this season. She also led the squad on bars with her 9.825.

On floor, Sophomore Viviana Campuzano opened the rotation with a career-best 9.800, while junior Ava Molina also hit the mark to tie for the team lead.

Overall, the Cardinals registered seven scores of 9.800-or-higher.

ROTATION 1: Bars (48.825)
- Szymanski turned in another solid effort on the beam, leading the squad and placing fourth overall at 9.825
- Senior Mary Rose Bellan was not far behind, placing fifth at 9.775
- The Cardinals also counted a 9.750 from Molina and senior Zoe Middleton, along with a 9.725 from junior Delaney McMahon

- Middleton led the way for the squad on vault, earning a 9.800 to place third overall
- Freshman Ava Thurston was second on the squad, earning a 9.775
- The Cardinals also counted a 9.725 from junior Karli Mercer, a 9.675 from sophomore Jordanna Phillis and a 9.650 from Bellan

- Campuzano opened the rotation with a career-best 9.800, while Molina also hit the mark to tie for the team lead
- Sophomore Avery Kantor and freshman Carley Stalder were next on the squad with 9.725s
- Rounding out the team's countable scores was a 9.700 from Middleton

- The Cardinals took the top three spots on beam, lead by a 9.850 from Szymanski for her seventh win on the apparatus this season
- Stalder finished second at 9.825, while Mercer took third at 9.800
