Szymanski Earns Third MAC Specialist of the Week Honor This Season

CLEVELAND - - For the third time this season, and the fifth time in her career, Ball State junior gymnast Ashley Szymanski has been named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week.

In last Sunday's league dual win over Eastern Michigan, improving the Cardinals to 9-1 (4-0 MAC), Szymanski earned two more individual event victories to raise her season total to nine and her career total to 22.Â

She started by tying her own mark for the league's best bars score at 9.950, winning the event by .100 for her fifth bars victory of the season and the 17th of her collegiate career.

She followed by tying the league's best beam score with a career-high 9.900, tying with teammate Delaney McMahonfor the event win. Szymanski has four beam wins this season and five over her career.

Szymanski and the rest of the Ball State gymnastics team will have a busy weekend ahead, competing at the Missouri Quad on Friday (7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT) and in a league dual at Western Michigan Sunday (1 p.m.).
