Men's Basketball Signs Ohio Transfer Elmore James

The Ball State men's basketball team has announced the signing of Ohio transfer Elmore James in advance of the 2025-26 season.

James, a 6-foot-3 guard from Cleveland, Ohio, started in 17 out of 30 games played last season for the Bobcats and averaged 8.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 25.7 minutes per game. James shot 39.0 percent from the field including 37.3 percent from distance and 84.3 percent at the free throw line in his junior season in Athens.

James had a career-best six 3-pointers among a season-high 20 points at Toledo on March 7. The Cleveland native had double figures scoring on 13 occasions last season with the Bobcats.

The rising senior tallied 700 points, 252 rebounds, 67 assists and 52 steals in 92 games in his three seasons at Ohio.

James is Ball State's fourth incoming transfer of the offseason joining Kayden Fish from Iowa State, Juwan Maxey from Youngstown State and Devon Barnes from UTEP. Clayton, N.C., high school forward Preston Copeland signed with the Cardinals back in November.
