April 09, 2025 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's basketball program continues to expand its 2025-26 roster with the addition of Giorgia Gorini (Genova, Italy) the Cardinals' head coach Brady Sallee announced Groini's commitment this afternoon.
Gorini joins last week's additions, Aniss Tagayi (Montpellier, Hérault, France) and Karsyn Norman (Bedford, Ind./Bedford North Lawrence/Butler) along with early signee Brooke Winchester (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw Community High School).
"Giorgia is our kind of guard! Very smart, very versatile and fearless," Sallee said. "She is as good with the ball in her hands as she is without it. She is a 3-level scorer and sees the floor extremely well. You take that skill and consider the elite levels she has been playing at in Europe, and we have reason to be excited."
Gorini is currently playing for the club team CLV-Limonta Costa Masnaga which is the Italian A2 League and is second in the national tier. Just one month ago, Gorini helped her team qualify for the Italian Cup finals losing by only one point, 75-74. This season Gorini has made 19 appearances with 16 starts for Costa Masnaga. She averages 26 minutes per contest and is currently the youngest player on the roster.
Gorini has had a successful youth career as well qualifying for the final eight U19 national finals which will be played in May. In the last three seasons, Gorini has been selected to play nationally with Italy U16 in the Euro '23 winning a bronze medal and qualifying for the U17 World Cup. She has also been a member of the Euro '24 U18 squad representing Italy.
