Grego Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week
April 03, 2025 | Baseball
Dylan Grego has been named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week, the MAC office announced Thursday afternoon.
Grego went 8-for-15 with a .533/.588/1.267 slash line on the week including two doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and four runs scored. The junior did all of his damage at the plate in conference play, having multiple hits, including a home run, and 3+ RBI in each game of a series at Akron over the weekend.
The Kansas City, Mo., native went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, four RBI and two runs scored in Ball State's 11-2 win over the Zips in Friday's series opener. Grego followed that up with another 3-for-4 effort including a double, home run and three RBI in Saturday's 5-2 win, which featured an RBI double in the first inning for the day's initial offense and a two-run blast in the sixth inning to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead. The everyday shortstop added a double, a homer and three more runs batted in for the nightcap of Saturday's twinbill.
Grego is a junior business administration major, and this is his second conference honor in the last few days after being awarded the MAC Co-Player of the Week on Monday. It is his first MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor.
Ball State is set to play a three-game series at Eastern Michigan this weekend starting with an 11 a.m. doubleheader on Friday in Ypsilanti.
