Men's Basketball Signs Youngstown State Transfer Juwan Maxey
April 23, 2025 | Men's Basketball
The Ball State men's basketball team has announced the signing of Youngstown State transfer Juwan Maxey in advance of the 2025-26 season.
Maxey, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Detroit, started in 29 out of 34 games played last season for the Penguins while averaging 11.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 26.4 minutes per game. A high-volume 3-point shooter, Maxey drained the fifth-most triples (75) in the Horizon League in 2024-25.
Maxey's 77.7 percent free throw shooting was the 10th-best in the Horizon League last season. He scored a season-high 29 points against Milwaukee on Feb. 21 and made at least five 3-pointers in five games including a 23-point performance against Robert Morris in the conference tournament championship game.
The rising senior played his first two seasons of college basketball at Macomb Community College in Warren, Mich., after graduating from Renaissance High School.
This is Ball State's second incoming transfer of the offseason, joining Kayden Fish from Iowa State. Clayton, N.C., high school forward Preston Copeland signed with the Cardinals back in November.
