MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State women's tennis fell 4-3 in its final match of the 2025 campaign to Eastern Michigan on Friday afternoon inside the Ball State Tennis Facility. The Cardinals concluded their campaign with an even 10-10 mark (4-6 MAC), while the Eagles advanced to 12-11 (5-5 MAC)
Seniors Chloe Brown, Elena Malykh and Ella Hazelbaker were honored prior to the match in Senior Day ceremonies. Malykh and Hazelbaker each completed four-year stints in Muncie, while Brown suited up for the Cardinals for one campaign—after transferring from Rutgers, where she played four seasons.
The final match of the 2025 campaign opened on a victorious note for Ball State. The red and white emerged with the win in a tightly contested doubles point, which at one moment, featured all three courts knotted at a 4-3 score. Isabel Tanjuatco and Jemima Williams-Phillips secured a 6-4 win at the No. 2 position, while the No. 3 pairing of Malykh and Ella Hazelbaker earned a 6-3 victory.
With Ball State carrying a 1-0 lead at the start of singles action, Eastern Michigan answered by collecting the first singles win of the afternoon at the top position. Alana Bristow soon after came through for the Cardinals on court five, defeating the Eagles, 6-4, 6-4.
Eastern Michigan then collected three straight-set wins at No. 2, 3 and 6 singles to earn the decisive four points to secure the team match.
With the team overall contest already decided, Tanjuatco added a point for the Cardinals at No. 4 singles, where she defeated Sabina Brichackova in a three-set battle.
The Cardinals fell just short of securing a top-four spot in the MAC standings and will not appear in this year's conference tournament.
