
Middleton & Szymanski Earn First Team All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND - - A pair of Ball State gymnasts were honored for their work over the course of the 2025 season, with junior Zoe Middleton and sophomore Ashley Szymanski earning First Team All-Mid-American Conference accolades.

A four-time MAC Gymnast of the Week this season, Middleton earns First Team All-MAC honors for the first time in her career after leading the league with a floor NQS of 9.890. A Second Team All-MAC honoree last season, she won the floor event in six of BSU's 11 meets this season and posted four scores of 9.900.

Middleton also finished the regular season ranked second in the MAC in all-around NQS at 39.115. The effort includes the league's best all-around score this season of 39.500 in the dual win over Northern Illinois, which in turn included 9.900s on vault, beam and floor. Her 9.900 effort on beam versus NIU was also a career best. Overall, Middleton she has seen 36 of her 42 total routines count in the final team score this year.

A two-time MAC Specialist of the Week honoree so far this season, Szymanski earns First Team All-MAC honors for the second straight season after leading the league with a bars NQS of 9.875. The bars champion in five of BSU's 11 meets this season, Szymanski has tallied five scores of 9.875, along with a season-best 9.900 in Ball State's dual win over NIU.

Szymanski has also been solid on beam this season, leading the squad and ranking seventh in the MAC with a NQS of 9.810. Her effort on beam includes five scores of 9.800-or-better, paced by a season-high 9.850 to tie for the event win versus Central Michigan.

The Ball State gymnastics team returns to action Saturday, when it travels to Central Michigan for the 2025 MAC Gymnastics Championships. Action in the seven-team event begins at 2 p.m. in McGuirk Arena.
