
Swimming Advances Four to Finals on Opening Day of 2025 CSCAA NIC

OCALA, Fla. – Ball State opened the 2025 CSCAA National Invitational Championships by capturing three top-six placements in finals events Thursdsay evening at the FAST (Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training). Â
Freshman Anna Keen led the way for the Cardinals, as she took second place in the 50 butterfly (23.93), clocking in just 0.11 shy of first in the event. Keen also made a finals appearance in the 50 breaststroke, where she placed 20th with a time of 28.82.
Also making an impact in finals competition was Junior Payton Kelly, who started off by claiming sixth in the 50 backstroke (24.90), matching her preliminary time which she set earlier in the day. Kelly followed with another strong performance in the 50 freestyle, taking sixth as she touched the wall at 22.66.
On the men's side, sophomore Aidan Biddle and freshman AJ Friend advanced to the consolation finals in their respective events, with Biddle placing 15th in the 50 breaststroke (25.07) and Friend placing 19th in the 50 butterfly (21.71).
The Cardinals continue competition with 11 more events Friday at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships, with prelims beginning at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
