Gymnastics Shines in Red vs. White Scrimmage

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State gymnastics team kept an energetic Worthen Arena crowd on its feet Sunday afternoon with numerous strong performances in its annual Red vs. White scrimmage.

The meet saw the Cardinals produce 19 routines of 9.700-or-higher with the White team earning its fourth consecutive victory in the preseason intrasquad showdown by a final score of 136.125 to 135.950.

The top individual score of the meet was 9.850, with junior Ashley Szymanski hitting the mark on both bars and beam, while freshman Carley Stalder hit the mark on floor. Stadler also turned in the best vault score of the competition at 9.825, while scoring 9.800 on beam.

Other highlights from the day include a 9.825 from junior Delaney McMahon on beam and a 9.825 from senior Mary Rose Bellan on bars.

The Ball State gymnastics team officially opens the 2026 season Sunday, Jan. 11 when it hosts Rutgers and Western Michigan for Squishmallows Day. Action is set for 1 p.m. in Worthen Arena.
