
Women's Golf Welcomes Gala Dumez

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Gala Dumez, a Big 12 individual champion and former French National Team player, has joined the Ball State women's golf coaching staff as a graduate assistant according to head coach Cameron Andry.

"Her resume as a player speaks for itself, but she also brings an infectiously positive energy and a commitment to helping players develop both on and off the course. I am confident our players will benefit in a number of ways through Gala's coaching."

Dumez completed her five-year collegiate career at Texas Tech last season, ranking second on the squad with a 72.7 stroke average over 31 rounds and 11 total events. She fired five rounds in the 60's, while playing 13 rounds at par or better.

Perhaps the biggest highlight of Dumez's collegiate career came when she claimed the individual title at the 2021 Big 12 Championship by shooting the lowest 54-hole score in the event's history at 202 (-14).Â

Overall, her consistent high-level play helped the Red Raiders make three NCAA regional team appearances, including a fifth-place effort at the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional. She finished the Pullman Regional tied for 26th overall, at 214 (-2), helping Texas Tech earn the program's fourth NCAA Championship team appearance.

Dumez, who competed in 53 career events at Texas Tech, finished her collegiate career with eight top five efforts and 16 top 10 finishes. Over 153 career rounds, she registered 22 in the 60's, while shooting at par or better 59 times. The effort helped her finish her career with a 73.3 stroke average.

In addition to her collegiate career, Dumez played for the French National U16 and U18 teams. She won the French National Team U18 World Junior Girls Championship and was ranked as high as 304th in the R&A and USGA World Amateur Golf Rankings. She also won the 2017 Grand Prix De Joyenval in France, while recording five top 10 finishes in international competitions in 2018 and 2019.
