Johnson Named MAC Pitcher of the Week

Keegan Johnson has been named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week, the MAC office announced Monday morning.
The freshman left-handed pitcher out of Frederick, Md., collected 10 strikeouts in 6.0 shutout innings at Miami (OH) on Saturday afternoon to lead Ball State to a 2-0 triumph for the Cardinals' eighth straight win.
Johnson struck out the side in the fifth inning and punched out at least one RedHawk in every inning to improve his record to 4-0. The lefty now has 47 strikeouts on the year, which ranks No. 4 in the conference and No. 113 in NCAA Division I.
This is Ball State's third weekly conference honor in as many weeks after Johnson was the Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 25 before Merritt Beeker was awarded the Pitcher of the Week recognition on April 1.
Ball State (20-13) has won 8 of 9 games going into a 6 p.m. contest on Tuesday night at Indiana.
