
Women’s Golf Moves Up The Leaderboard on Day Two of MAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Ohio - - Four of Ball State's five golfers climbed up the leaderboard Monday afternoon, helping the team jump one spot to sixth after the second round of the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships Monday at the Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio.
On a day when none of the 50 players in the field finished in red numbers, the Cardinals' five all finished within one stroke of each other, carding either a +7 (79) or a +8 (80).
Sophomore Sarah Gallagher continues to lead the squad and is currently tied for fifth overall at +8 (152) for the tournament. While she dropped two spots on the overall leaderboard, she was one of two Cardinals to finish the day at +7 (79).
Gallagher would also collect one of Ball State's six birdies on the day, raising her tournament total to six which is tied for second among the field, one shy of the tournament lead. Overall, Gallagher is just seven strokes off the pace set by Kent State's Leon Takagi who is first overall at +1 (145).
Also carding a +7 (79) on the day for the Cardinals was sophomore Jasmine Driscoll who climbed seven spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 19th at +15 (159). Her effort also included one birdie, on the par 5, 494-yard 11th.
Senior Kiah Parrott remains third among the squad at +17 (161) and climbed two spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 31st after scoring +8 (80) in the second round. After finishing her opening round with 12 pars, including 11 straight to end the day, she added 10 more Monday to go along with her first two birdies of the event.
Junior Sabrina Langerak also carded a pair of birdies in her round of +8 (80) Monday and jumped four spots into a tie for 34th at +19 (163). It was three strokes better than her opening round and gave her three birdies for the tournament.
Rounding out the lineup and tied for 39th overall is freshman JJ Gregston at +22 (166). Gregston climbed six positions up the leaderboard in a round that started with a bogey and 10 straight holes at par.
The combined effort helped the Cardinals climb up one spot into sixth as a team at +59 (635). Ball State is just one stroke behind fifth-place Central Michigan and four back of fourth-place Akron. Kent State leads the championship at +32 (608).
Tuesday's final round on the 72-par, 6,201-yard course will begin at 9 a.m. with the Cardinals teeing off on the opening hole starting with Gregston.
