CARBONDALE, Ill. - - The Ball State men's swimming & diving program opened the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships with bronze medals and a pair of program records Wednesday evening at SIU's Shea Natatorium.
The Cardinals started the night by taking third in the 200 medley relay, as Ethan Pheifer, Joey Garberick, Bryce Handshoe and Owen Chaye combined for a time of 1:26.61.
About 30 minutes later, Ball State added its first two program records of the week while taking fourth in the 800 freestyle relay. Jacob Siewers started by beating his own program record in the 200 free with an opening split of 1:37.05, well ahead of his 1:38.62 set earlier in the season.
