Men’s Tennis Earns 4-0 Sweep Over Villanova in California

LAJOLLA, Calif. - The Ball State men's tennis team wrapped up spring break action when it earned a 4-0 sweep over Villanova Sunday evening on a neutral court.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 6-5 overall while the Wildcats dropped to 4-6 on the year.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early 1-0 edge over the Wildcats after taking doubles wins by a score of 6-4 on the top two courts. Nathaniel Webster paired up with Vince Orlando for their 6-4 victory over the No. 1 doubles tandem of Thomas Wakefield and Joshua Robinson. Ball State's Mason Tran and Jacks Lancaster also helped clinch the point winning by the same score at the No. 2 spot.
In singles, Ball State's No. 4 player Eli Herran, defeated Ryan Nguyen 6-3, 6-2 which was then followed by Jacks Lancaster defeating Justin Frattarelli, 7-5, 6-0 at the No. 6 slot to increase the Cardinals' score to 3-0. Orlando then claimed match point with his 6-0, 6-3 victory over Will Monahan on court No. 2.
The Ball State men's tennis team opens Mid-American Conference play at home Friday, March 8 at 1 pm ET.
