
Women’s Tennis Loses Tough Road Battle at Butler

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team (2-8) dropped a highly competitive 4-3 match at Butler (9-6) Sunday afternoon in the Butler Bubble.
The Bulldogs took the early 1-0 edge over the Cardinals after earning victories on courts two and three. The top court for Ball State did secure a win for the Cardinals as Isabelle Tanjuatco and Sarah Shahbaz took down Butler's Natalie Boesing and Chase Metcalf, 6-2.
In singles, Ella Hazelbaker and Tanjuatco gave Ball State the 2-1 advantage over Butler after posting straight set victories on courts No. 6 and No. 5, respectively. Hazelbaker beat Jordan Schildcrout, 6-4, 6-0 and Tanjuatco defeated Emma Beavin, 6-3, 6-4.
After that, Butler knotted the match 2-2 after winning at the No. 2 slot. Shahbaz put the Cardinals back on top with her three-set thriller at the No. 3 slot. With two matches remaining, the Cardinals fought hard as the No. 1 and No. 4 slots were in their third frames. Unfortunately for Ball State, Butler went on to win both to claim today's victory.
