KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Cardinals (5-11, 2-2 MAC) got off to a hot start after taking the doubles point over the Broncos (11-6, 2-2 MAC) but unfortunately dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker at Western Michigan Friday afternoon at West Hills Athletic Club.

After that, BSU's No. 2 twosome of Annika Planinsek and Ella Hazelbaker earned a 6-0 decision versus the Broncos' Lindsey Zieglar and Polina Khotko to claim the first point of the match for Ball State.
In singles, Western Michigan took victories on courts No. 4, No. 6, No. 1 and No. 2 in that order to complete its come-from-behind win over Ball State. Elena Malykh and Tanjuatco earned were the only winners in singles play for the Cardinals with Malykh beating her opponent in straight sets at the No. 3 slot and Tanjuatco coming through in a three-set thrill at the No. 5 position.
