Pfister Earns WCGA First Team All-America Honors

MARLBORO, NEW JERSEY - - Ball State senior Suki Pfister continued to make history Thursday morning, becoming the first gymnast in program history to earn Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) First Team All-America honors.

Pfister earns the honor after finishing the regular season tied for fifth in the nation with a vault NQS of 9.935.

The Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Year in each of the last three seasons, and a three-time First Team All-MAC honoree, Pfister has turned in seven vault scores of 9.900-or-higher this season. The total includes only the second perfect 10.00 on the apparatus in program history, as well as 9.975.Â

In fact, she has won the vault competition in seven meets this season, while placing second in three others. The effort has helped her earn MAC Specialist of the Week honors three times this season and seven times over her collegiate career.

The first WCGA All-American in program history after earning second team honors last season, Pfister has had 17 of her 44 collegiate vault performances score 9.900-or-higher. The total includes one 10.0, one 9.975, four 9.950s, three 9.925s and eight 9.900s.

In addition to being one of the nation's leaders on vault, Pfister has also shined on the floor for the Cardinals this season, including tying for the event win at the MAC Championships with a score of 9.900. She also tied the program record for a second time in her career with a 9.950, closed the regular season with a 9.925 and opened league play with a 9.900.Â

She finished the regular season ranked seventh in the league with a floor NQS of 9.895 and earned an individual NCAA Regional berth in the event, to go along with her third straight individual regional bid on vault.

Pfister and the rest of the Ball State gymnastics team returns to action at 2 p.m. Wednesday (April 3) in the opening round of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional versus Illinois.
