YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Ball State women's tennis team (4-10, 1-1 MAC) suffered a 6-1 setback on the road at Eastern Michigan (7-7, 1-1 MAC) Friday afternoon at the Chippewa Club.
With a few Cardinals injured, Ball State was short two players therefore having to forfeit one of the doubles matches and one singles court as well. That hindered Ball State at the start of the match as Eastern Michigan won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles to take the first point of today's competition from the Cardinals.
In singles, the lone Cardinal to win was Annika Planinsek who took a three-set thriller from the Eagles top court player, Daniella Shved, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Jacqueline Pearsall was also in a tightly contested competition at the No. 5 position but unfortunately lost to Linda Eloundou.
The Ball State women's tennis team returns home to play Eastern Michigan again on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET if played outdoors and 1 pm ET if played indoors.
