Garberick Earns Third MAC Weekly Award This Season

CLEVELAND - - After sweeping the breaststroke events in a pair of meets last week, Ball State senior Joey Garberick has been named the MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.

A three-time award winner this season, and a seven-time recipient over his career, Garberick started the week by having a hand in three of BSU's five event wins in Friday's dual at Miami. He started with individual victories in the 100 (55.34) and 200 (2:03.41) breaststrokes before closing the meet by swimming the second leg for the first-place 200 freestyle relay which combined for a time of 1:23.19.

On Sunday, his wins in the 100 (53.71) and 200 (2:01.79) breaststrokes helped the Cardinals earn the victory in the six-team Butler Invite. He also swam the second leg for the second place 400 medley relay (3:18.53) to open the meet, and leadoff for the second place 200 freestyle relay (1:22.33) to end the day.

The Ball State men's swimming & diving team returns to action Saturday (Feb. 3) when it travels to Bellarmine for a 1 p.m. dual.
