
Swimming & Diving Falls in Dual Action at Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio - - The Ball State women's swimming & diving team suffered its first dual loss of the season Saturday afternoon, dropping a 219-81 decision to an undefeated Ohio squad.
In its toughest meet of the season to date, the Cardinals (4-1; 3-1 MAC) were still able to pick up a pair of event wins against the Bobcats (7-0; 4-0 MAC) with freshman Alexa Von Holtz winning the 200 butterfly and sophomore Payton Kelly taking top billing in the 50 freestyle (23.53).
Senior Laura Wright added a pair of second-place individual finished in the pool, clocking in at 1:03.63 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:18.77 in the 200 breaststroke.
In the diving well, senior Grace Walker added a pair of second-place effort of her own, scoring 270.08 on 1M and 258.00 on 3M.
The Cardinals also received runner-up finishes from Kelly in the 100 freestyle (52.28) and sophomore Alyssa Messenger in the 200 backstroke (2:05.70). BSU also turned in second-place effort in both the 200 medley (1:44.89) and 200 freestyle (1:37.78) relays.
The Ball State women's swimming & diving program competes in its final scheduled regular season dual next Saturday when it travels to Bellarmine for a 1 p.m. start at the Mary T Meagher Aquatic Center.
