January 23, 2024 | Gymnastics
CLEVELAND - - For the second straight week, the Ball State gymnastics program has swept the Mid-American Conference weekly awards with senior Suki Pfister being named Specialist of the Week and sophomore Zoe Middleton earning Gymnast of the Week.
Â
The pair helped the Cardinals register a program and MAC record team score of 198.025 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic last Friday and earned two of BSU's three perfect 10s at the meet.
Â
Pfister earns Specialist of the Week honors for the second time this season, and the sixth time in her career, after tying a pair of program records. Her first came when she scored just the second perfect 10 in program history on vault. She also tied her own record on floor with a second career 9.950.
Â
Middleton, who earns her first career MAC weekly honor, crushed the program's all-around record with a 39.750. The effort included the first perfect 10 in program history on bars, a 9.950 on vault, a 9.925 on floor and a 9.875 on beam. All five of Middleton's scores were career-best efforts.
Â
The pair also helped Ball State establish new event records on vault (49.375), bars (49.775) and floor (49.625).
Â
After last night's 196.600 to 193.200 victory over Bowling Green, the Ball State gymnastics team returns to action Sunday, Feb. 4, versus Kent State at Worthen Arena.
