New Fan Experiences Highlight Football Saturdays at Scheumann Stadium
September 05, 2023 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – New activities are planned for football Saturdays at Scheumann Stadium this fall, including exclusive outdoor suites inside the stadium and pregame fun for all ages outside the stadium.
Action at "The Scheu" kicks off next week, Saturday, Sept. 16, when Ball State hosts Indiana State for its home opener on Family Weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., but surrounding festivities begin when tailgate parking opens at 10:00 a.m. – four hours before kickoff.
STUDENT EXPERIENCE TAILGATE
Tailgate options have been expanded for 2023 with a new "Student Experience" area west of the Alumni Center expanding the footprint of CharlieTown. Yard games, music and food enhance the new experience, encouraging student fun and engagement.
New this season, Ball State students need only show their student ID for free admission. Students are encouraged to use Gate 4 for entrance to the game.
CARDINAL WALK
CharlieTown has long been a hub of pregame activity at Ball State football games, anchored by tailgating around the Alumni Center with color and sound provided by the Pride of Mid-America Marching Band, Code Red Dancers and the Ball State cheer squad. The pregame atmosphere is highlighted by visits from Charlie Cardinal and the University President. The Cardinal Walk is a tradition revived from the Covid era that features the arrival of the Ball State team as buses arrive on Cardinal Way, next to CharlieTown. Players and staff exit the buses and make their way past CharlieTown as they walk into the stadium. The Cardinal Walk takes place before every home game two hours before kickoff.
PREMIUM SEATING AND CONCOURSE ENHANCEMENTS
Inside the stadium, the newest and most visible premium seating option are a series of luxury outdoor suites that replicate the suite experience elsewhere in the stadium. Equipped with a bar to satisfy four tented suites beneath the stadium videoboard, each suite includes couches and seating for up to 12 fans, a catered menu and an unobstructed view of the action, just above the grassy berm beyond the north endzone. Single-game opportunities remain for each of the outdoor suites. Suites may be reserved by contacting Tyler Worley directly at 765-285-1550.
Added to the concourse and club level, attractive photo backdrop stands allow fans to engage with photos including friends and family. A new 3D "CHIRP! CHIRP!" sign allows fans to be the center of attention, and spaces have been designated for "meet-and-greet" opportunities with athletic teams and Charlie Cardinal before games.
As far as refreshments are concerned, adult Cardinal fans now have access to the Chirp! Chirp! Cherry Shakeup, a refreshing cocktail distilled by Hi & Mighty. The Cardinal Red cherry citrus beverage complements Charlie Cream Ale, the official craft beer of Ball State Athletics made by Guardian Brewing Company.
Guardian Brewing's Ball and Brew Pack features a game ticket and beer for $20. The Ball and Brew Pack and other ticket offers may be secured by calling 1-888-BSU-TICKET.
CHARLIE'S KIDS CLUB
Kids can join the fun, too! This season marks the return of Charlie's Kids Club! Disbanded during the Covid era, Charlie's Kids Club returns in 2023 with kids 13-and-under able to enjoy benefits that include a Ball State Swag Bag, a welcome letter from Charlie, special birthday messages and exclusive experiences at select athletic events. Membership includes an exclusive Charlie's Kids Club credential and a general admission ticket to all sports events excluding football, and men's and women's basketball. Annual membership is $30 for one child, and $15 for additional kids in the same family. Kids club members get postgame field access after teams return to their locker rooms. Kids club memberships are available online at: https://fevo.me/45E8ylq.
