Leading a ground attack that collected 288 yards against Indiana State, Marquez Cooper sparked Ball State in front of its home crowd for the first time this season with the second-best rushing output of his career. He tallied 177 yards on 22 carries for a clip of 8.0 yards per attempt. For his efforts, the D.C. Touchdown Club near his hometown of Gaithersburg, Maryland, named him to the D.C. Touchdown Club College Football Player of the Week Honor Roll.
Cooper eclipsed the 100-yard barrier for the 14th time in his career, scooting past 100 in the first half and adding his first touchdown in a Cardinals uniform in the third quarter. He had seven carries of 10+ yards on the day, and two of 20+ yards including a long of 31.
A transfer from Kent State, Cooper and the Cardinals battle Sun Belt Conference traditional power Georgia Southern this week when the Eagles visit Scheumann Stadium on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
