SOUTH BEND, Ind. - - In its first road test of the 2023 season, the Ball State soccer team battled tough against one of the nation's best on its home pitch Sunday afternoon, suffering a 3-0 loss to third-ranked Notre Dame at Alumni Soccer Stadium.
In fact, the Cardinals (1-1-0) held one of the nation's most potent offenses to just one goal in the run of play. The Irish (1-0-1), who ranked 12th nationally in scoring offense last season, tallied its other two markers off set pieces on corner kicks.
Despite the three UND goals, junior keeper Bethany Moser turned in a strong all-around performance, falling one save shy of her career high with eight. On the offensive side, the Cardinals received shots from Avery Fenchel, Delaney Caldwell, Emily Roper and Lexi Fraley.
Ball State will face another tough task Thursday, when it travels to Texas Tech. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
