Cardinals Land Five on CSC Academic All-District List

INDIANAPOLIS – The College Sports Communicators announced its annual Academic All-District Baseball Team on Tuesday. Five Ball State baseball student-athletes were honored.
Justin Conant, Logan Flood, Sam Klein, Decker Scheffler, and Andrew Wilhite were all recognized as All-District honorees.
Conant is seeking an athletic coaching education masters and has a 4.0 GPA. He is currently hitting .310 with 25 runs scored, 21 walks, 17 RBIs, five doubles, two triples, and two home runs. He has appeared in 47 games and has made 43 starts at second base for the Cardinals. Defensively, he has 84 assists and 74 putouts.
Flood is a graduate student with a 4.0 GPA and is seeking a masters in business administration. He has made 38 appearances, including 29 starts. He has 22 runs scores, 22 walks, and 22 RBIs. He has produced 5 doubles and four home runs. Defensively, he has a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 51 putouts and one outfield assist.
Klein is working towards a degree in biology and has a 3.81 GPA. He has played a key role coming out of the Cardinal bullpen. He has appeared 11 contest and has tossed 30 1/3. He has a record of 6-2 and his six wins lead the staff. He has 35 strikeouts and has a WHIP of 1.48.
Scheffler is a teaching major in physical education and health and has a GPA of 3.97. He currently leads the MAC in conference only games with a .447 batting average. For the season, he is hitting .382 with 41 RBIs, 38 runs scored, 19 walks, 12 doubles, six home runs, and three triples. He has appeared in 49 games with 46 starts. He has recorded 106 putouts and added one assist from the outfield.
Wilhite is pursuing a masters in business administration and has a 4.0 GPA. He has made 42 appearances, including 32 starts. He is hitting .220 with 30 RBIs, 16 runs scored, 14 walks, four doubles, and four home runs. He has collected 25 putouts with one assist for a perfect fielding percentage.
To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve, achieve sophomore standing at their current school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and be nominated by her sports information director.
All five Ball State student-athletes will be eligible for voting for CSC Academic All-America® honors which will be announced on June 6.
