
T&F Finishes Day One at Joe Walker Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ball State track and field team competed in day one of the Joe Walker Invitational tallying several personal best performances.

"The ladies continue demonstrating their commitment to one another and how the importance of performing on the day affects the team," said head coach Adrian Wheatley. "We are always encouraged when individuals have lifetime performances across the board. We continue rehearsal for the big show."

The Cardinals earned several top-15 finishes in their respective events. Junior Jenelle Rogers tallied a sixth-place finish in the long jump. Jenna Oriani (fifth place) and Alana Springer (eighth place) earned top-10 finishes in the 200m. Juliana Stogsdill placed sixth overall in the 3000m steeplechase. Shelby Christman finished in tenth place in the 5000m run, and Sarah Mahnensmith also notched a top-15 finish, placing 11th.

With today's performances, several Cardinals find themselves ranked in the top 15 on the MAC outdoor performance list. Charity Griffith earned a top-three mark in the MAC performance list in the 100m hurdles, Jenna Oriani notched a current top-two mark in the 200m, and Griffith finished with another top-10 mark in the 200m.

Charity Griffith tallied a huge personal best in the heptathlon 100m hurdles, running a 13.74. Senior Lea-Marie Diedicke broke the 15 second mark for the first time in her career in the heptathlon 100m hurdles.

Griffith also earned a personal best performance in the heptathlon 200m (25.15). Lea-Marie Diedicke ran a personal best in the heptathlon 200m.

Jenna Oriani scored a personal best in the 200m, running a 24.14. Alana Springer also notched a personal best, running a 24.23. Following suit was Moriah Johnson, running a personal best in 25.06.

Allison Valladay earned a personal best score in the 200m, running a 25.33.

Shelby Christman tallied a huge personal best in the 5000m run, running a 17:01.13 and beating her previous record by over 53 seconds.
