T&F Shows Persistence Despite Delays at Jesse Owens Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ball State track and field team competed at the Jesse Owens Classic today after battling the weather conditions and several delays.

The Cardinals battled adversity all day and continued competing after several setbacks.
Â
Vivian Van Eck ran a huge personal best in the 1500m. She dominated her heat and never looked back, leading from the gun.
Â
Shelby Christman ran her second fastest 5000m ever, finally beginning the race after three storm delays.
Â
Jenelle Rogers picked up an event win in the long jump. Taylor Hickman ran a season best in the 200m.
Â
Lea-Marie Diedicke ran a season best in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 63 seconds. Leila Williams-Molitor was consistent in the 400m hurdles.

The Cardinals will begin day two of the Jesse Owens Classic tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. with the shot put.
