March 03, 2023 | Gymnastics
MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State gymnastics team turned in the second-best score in program history on its way to a 196.375 to 196.000 victory over Mid-American Conference rival Bowling Green Friday evening at Anderson Arena.
Â
"I was very impressed with the fight we showed in our beam routines tonight," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "It's important to come out and battle like that in every routine, from the mount to the dismount. While it was not the typical beam we perform, they came out and fought, stayed in those routines. That was the difference between a win and a loss tonight."
Â
In a night filled with high scores for the Cardinals (14-4; 5-0 MAC), it was a solid effort on floor which punctuated the victory.
Â
Ball State scored a season-high 49.300 on floor to tie the sixth-best team score in program history. Senior Megan Teter tied for the overall event win with her score of 9.900, while also winning the bars outright with another 9.900.
Â
The Cardinals also tied the program record on vault, score a 49.250 for the second time this season. Junior Victoria Henry led the way there, tying her career high with a 9.925.
Â
