WVB's Kennedy Earns AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, Ky. - - For the third straight season a member of the Ball State women's volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with redshirt freshman Aniya Kennedy garnering All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention accolades.
Kennedy paced one of the most dynamic offenses in the Mid-American Conference with a 4.12 kills-per-set average this past season. The effort ranked first in the league and is currently 32nd among all NCAA Division I players.
Converted from the middle to outside due to team injuries this season, Kennedy ranked third among all MAC players with 470 total kills, which is 26th nationally. The 2023 MAC Freshman of the Year and First Team All-MAC selection blasted double digit kills in 26 matches, with 20-or-more on eight occasions.
The eight matches with 20-or-more kills is the eight-best single season mark in program history, while her 470 total kills tie as the eight-best total. Kennedy also finished the season with a .259 attack percentage, hitting .300-or-better in 11 matches, including a .457 (22-1-46) rate of success versus Clemson this past Friday in the second round of the NIVC.
Kennedy was also a threat at the net for the Cardinals, ranking fourth on the team with 57 total blocks and a 0.50 blocks-per-set average. She recorded at least one block in 24 matches with a career-high four total blocks on four occasions.
