Sociology Major Contributed to a Pair of Cardinals Wins

Mickey Pearson Jr. has been named the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week, the Mid-American Conference office announced Wednesday.

The redshirt junior forward from Lincoln, Ala., averaged 12.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in last week's wins at Detroit Mercy and against SIUE while majoring in sociology as a Ball State student-athlete.

Pearson Jr. hit a pair of critical free throws in the final seconds of the last-minute win against the Titans on Wednesday and is currently second on the team in rebounds per game (4.7) and 3-point percentage (42.1) and third in points per game (12.5) for the season in an expanded role.

This is the first Scholar Athlete of the Week honor for the Cardinals this season. Pearson Jr. and the Cardinals are in the midst of Finals Weeks and preparing to play Indiana State at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday in Indianapolis for the Indy Classic powered by Gainbridge.
