Softball Unveils 2024 Schedule

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State softball has unveiled its 56-game schedule for the 2024 season which is highlighted by 15 games at the Softball Field at First Merchants Ballpark Complex according to first-year head coach Helen Peña.
Before the Cardinals open the home season, however, it will play its first 27 games on the road, starting Feb. 9-11 with five contests in the River City Leadoff co-hosted by Jacksonville and North Florida.
Ball State follows with five games at the Chattanooga Challenge (Feb. 16-18), before taking part in the I-75 Tournament in which it will play a doubleheader at Kennesaw State (Feb. 23), a single game at Georgia State (Feb. 24) and another doubleheader at Georgia Tech (Feb. 25).
For its annual Spring Break trip, BSU will open with five games at the EKU Colonel Classic (March 1-3), play a doubleheader at East Tennessee State (March 5) and close its pre-conference slate with five games at the Marshall March Madness (March 8-10).
Ball State will face three in-state rivals in the final two tournaments, with a pair of contests versus Purdue Fort Wayne at EKU and two games versus Indiana State and an outing versus Notre Dame at Marshall.
The Cardinals open Mid-American Conference play with two straight home series, the first coming versus Ohio (March 15-16) and the second against Kent State (March 22-23).
Following a midweek home showdown versus Butler (March 26), the Cardinals travel to Toledo (March 29-30) for its first road league series. BSU will host Western Michigan (April 2) for a doubleheader, before heading to Buffalo (April 6-7).
Home weekend series versus Bowling Green (April 12-13) and Akron (April 20-21) surround a road twinbill at Miami (April 16).
For its final scheduled non-conference showdown, the Cardinals travel to Purdue (April 24). BSU will then warp up league play with a doubleheader at Northern Illinois (April 30) and a three-game series at Central Michigan (May 4-5).
The Mid-American Conference Softball Championship returns to Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio, May 8-11, with the league's top six teams qualifying for the event. The winner earns the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Softball Championship which begins with regional play (May 17-19).
