Volleyball Places Three on CSC Academic All-District Squad

GREENWOOD, Ind. - - Three members of the Ball State women's volleyball program were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team, as announced Tuesday (Dec. 12).
Representing the Cardinals were fifth-year middle Marie Plitt, junior setter Megan Wielonski and sophomore opposite Madison Buckley.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. They must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically and must have played in at least 90% of the team's sets or started at least 66% of the team's matches.
Plitt earns the honor for the second straight season after ranking second in the Mid-American Conference and 24th nationally with a .396 hitting percentage. Ball State's all-time leader in sets played (561) and career hitting percentage (.362), Plitt also finished her collegiate career ranked sixth in program history in kills (1322), fifth in total blocks (423), ninth in solo blocks (85) and fifth in block assists (338). She also boasted the top two single season attack percentages in program history (.404 in 2022, .396 in 2023).
Wielonski earns the honor for the second straight season after ranking second in the MAC and 12th nationally with 1,269 assists. Her 10.58 assists-per-set average ranked 21st nationally, while her 40 service aces were 122nd. In Ball State's 2023 postseason National Invitational Championship run, she became the sixth player in program history to reach 4,000 career assists and the 21st player in program history to record 1,000 career digs. Overall, she has led BSU to a .300-or-better attack percentage in 27 of her 99 career matches.
Buckley earns the honor for the first time in her career after ranking third on the team this past season with 290 kills and a 2.32 kills-per set average. She was also one of the team's top blockers, leading the team with 96 total blocks while ranking second with a 0.80 blocks-per-set average.
