
Women’s Golf Signs International Star Sophie Korthuijs

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State women's golf head coach Cameron Andry has announced the signing of international star Sophie Korthuijs to a national letter of intent.
"We are incredibly excited for Sophie to join our program beginning next fall," Andry said. "She is extremely skilled and has a wealth of international tournament experience. Sophie has a fun personality to go along with a competitive spirit and a passion for putting in the work to reach her goals. With that mentality, she will fit in well in our culture. We are excited to see the impact she can have in the Cardinal and White!"
Korthuijs, who is slated to join the Cardinals for the 2024-25 season, is currently ranked 366 in the European Golf Rankings and 1313th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. She owns two wins and 14 top 10 finishes in WAGR countable events since 2022, as well as 53 career top 10 finishes.
During the 2023 international season, she won the Portuguese Intercollegiate Open, placed second at the Atlantic Youth Trophy U23 event, picked up the victory at the German Junior Masters and placed 16th in the European Club Trophy race.
A member of the Dutch National program since the age of 11, Korthuijs placed fifth at the 2019 Dutch National Championships in the 21-or-under age group and took seventh in the 2019 European Team Championship U18 group. Korthuijs would go on to take fourth in the Dutch Junior Open, 10th at the English Girls U16 and 17th at the British Girls U18. Her play ultimately helped her climb to 18th in the European Golf Rankings for her age group.
Most recently, she placed ninth at the 2023 Dutch National U21 Stroke Play Championship and took second at the Dutch National U21 Match Play Championship. She also finished seventh at the Dutch National Stroke Play Championship, the Dutch Amateur Championship, and the Dutch National Open Championship.
