Cardinals Wrap Up the 2023 Season

MADISON, Wi. -- Ball State cross country closed its season Friday morning at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet in Madison, Wisconsin. The team finished 23rd out of the 32 competing teams. Â
Sarah Mahnensmith led the Cardinals, finishing 71st with a time of 21.47.1. She finished over ten places ahead of where she finished last year and 13 seconds faster than her last race this season. Â
Carly Spletzer was close behind, finishing 83rd with a time of 21:58.4. This was 20 seconds better than her last NCAA Regional competition from her freshman season. Â
For the rest of the Cardinal pack, this was their first experience running in a NCAA Division I regional meet. Shelby Christman crossed the finish line in 22:40.4, followed by Jessica Velez who finished in 23:20.6Â
Ella Fullmer was the next to finish, running a time of 24:06.4. Maci Hoskins rounded out the Cardinal competitors finishing with a time of 2:59.6. Â
The team will now look ahead to the 2024 indoor track and field season. Â
