Parrott Once Again Claims MAC Women’s Golfer of the Week Honors
October 26, 2023 | Women's Golf
CLEVELAND - - For the second time this season, and third time in her career, Ball State senior Kiah Parrott has been named the Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week.
Parrott led the charge for the Cardinals at the Diamante Intercollegiate, tying for sixth overall at -7 (209) among the 96-golfer field. After opening the event with an even-par round of 72 Sunday, Parrott shot 69 (-3) Monday and followed with a season-low 68 (-4) to close the three-day tournament Tuesday. The effort ties as the lowest round for a Ball State golfer this fall and is the third time in her career Parrott has shot a 68-or-lower.
Parrott also registered four birdies Tuesday, including one on BSU's final hole of the competition to help the Cardinals finish with an 18-hole scoring record team score of 285, one stroke better than the 286 accomplished in the second round of the Spring Break Shootout on March 15, 2021, at the Lake Jovita Country Club in Dade City, Florida.
Overall, Parrott tied for seventh among the tournament field with 13 birdies over the three-day event.
Her play also helped the Cardinals break the program's 54-hole scoring record for the second time this season, as BSU tied for sixth overall at 865 (+1), shaving 10 strokes off the previous record of 875 set earlier this season at the Brittany Kelly Classic (Sept. 18-19).
The Ball State women's golf team will now have a few months to train at the state-of-the-art Earl Yestingsmeier Golf Center, with the next competition slated for Feb. 13-14 when the Cardinals travel to the Wigman Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona, for the BGSU Spring Invitational.
