Chaye Named MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

CLEVELAND - - After winning both the 50 and 100 freestyle events at the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate, fifth-year senior Owen Chaye has been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Chaye, who picks up the award for the first time this season and fifth time in his career, upped his season win total to four by taking the top spot in both the 50 freestyle (20.49) and 100 freestyle (45.54) at last Saturday's 10-team meet.

His 50 freestyle time is the third-fastest in the MAC so far this season, while his 100 free time ranks sixth. Chaye also swam anchor for the fifth-place 200 medley relay.

Chaye is the second Ball State men's swimmer to earn the league's weekly award, with senior Joey Garberick earning the honor last week.

The Ball State men's swimming & diving program returns to action Friday, Nov. 3, when it hosts IUPUI for senior night at the Lewellen Aquatic Center. The meet, which also includes the women, will start at 5 p.m.
