Cardinals Continue To Soar In The Classroom

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State student-athletes registered another strong effort in the classroom during the 2022 fall semester, finishing with a 3.40 term grade point average (GPA).
It is the second-best department term GPA on record, trailing only the 3.41 term GPA from last fall.
"We are extremely proud of the success our student-athletes have shown in their academic pursuits." Ball State Interim Director of Athletics Ken Bothof said. "Their commitment to succeed, both in the classroom and on the field of play, speaks volumes about their character. In addition, we are lucky to have outstanding faculty and support staff to encourage our student-athletes to strive to do their best."
Over 55 percent of Ball State's student-athletes (247) earned a spot on the Dean's List during the 2022 fall semester with a GPA of 3.5-or-above. In addition, 78 Cardinals finished the fall with a perfect 4.0 term GPA, while 355 earned at least a 3.0.
For the third straight semester, cross country earned the highest mark with a 3.87 term GPA. Soccer was next at 3.80, while 12 programs recorded at least a 3.50 GPA for the term.
All 11 of Ball State's varsity women's squads (indoor and outdoor track combined) tallied at least a 3.37 term GPA, with four teams at 3.7-or-better. Joining the top women's squads were volleyball (3.76 GPA) and golf (3.72).
Among the seven men's sports, golf led the way with a 3.51 term GPA. Baseball and tennis were not far behind at 3.50.
Along with the solid term numbers, Ball State's student-athletes maintained a 3.40 cumulative GPA. It marks the third straight semester BSU's student-athletes have combined for a 3.40-or-better cumulative GPA.
Soccer led all teams on the list with a 3.80 cumulative mark, while tennis paced the men at 3.68.
In all, 17 varsity teams have a cumulative team GPA above 3.0, while 354 student-athletes carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0-or-above. In addition, 41 Ball State student-athletes maintain a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA.
