Gymnastics Sees 11 Honored as WCGA Scholar All-Americans

ITHACA, NY - - Thanks to their hard work both in the gym and in the classroom, 11 members of the Ball State gymnastics program were honored as 2021-22 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholastic All-Americans on Wednesday.

To earn the WCGA Scholastic All-America Award, a student-athlete must achieve either a 3.5 grade point average for the 2021-22 academic year or maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5-or-higher.

Leading the way for the Cardinals were a pair of 4.0 students for the 2021-22 academic year in freshman Grace Sumner and senior Sari Thaler.

Also earning the honor for Ball State were freshman Cai Afalla, senior Sandra Elsadek, freshman Ari Gilley, sophomore Hannah Ruthberg, senior Stefanie Schweikert, sophomore Kelly Sulek, junior Megan Teter, senior Lauren Volpe, and junior Taylor Waldo.

As a team, the Cardinals ranked 29th nationally among the 76 participating institutions with a 3.6294 grade point average.
