Ball State earns All-Academic Team honor, posts ninth-highest GPA in the country

The Cardinals posted a 3.689 cumulative GPA through 2021-22, good for ninth-highest in the nation
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Ball State track and field team earned a team cumulative grade-point average of 3.689 en route to being named a recipient of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honor. The Cardinals' GPA was the ninth-highest recorded among all programs in the country.
In order to qualify for the annual honor, teams must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field.
In addition, four members of the Ball State squad earned individual all-academic laurels in Charity Griffith, Kayla Jones, Jenelle Rogers and Karlie Zumbro.
Qualifications for the award include having a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher and must have completed at least two semesters at the nominating institution. Athletically, recipients must have finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, or must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West.
Ball State's four honorees tied Miami for the second-most among Mid-American Conference foes, trailing only Kent State (seven).
